SNAP March 2026 Payments: Why Dates Differ

SNAP benefits are federally funded but state-managed, so payment dates vary.

States distribute benefits based on:

  • Last name (e.g., Connecticut)

  • Case number (e.g., Florida, Alabama)

This helps avoid system overload and spreads out payments.

What You Can Buy with SNAP

Eligible items include:

  • Fruits and vegetables

  • Meat, fish, eggs, and plant-based proteins

  • Dairy products

  • Bread and cereals

  • Even seeds and plants to grow your own food
