SNAP Benefits Payment August 2026: State-by-State Deposit Schedule You Need to Know
August 2026 SNAP payment dates vary by state, and deposits are beginning in the coming days. Since each state sets its own schedule, recipients may see benefits hit their EBT cards on different dates throughout the month.

Why SNAP payment dates vary

Each state sets its own SNAP deposit schedule. Some states use:

  • The last digits of a case number.

  • The last digit of a Social Security number.

  • The first letter of a recipient’s last name.

  • The date an application was approved.

That means two households in different states may get benefits on very different days. Some August deposits arrive on Aug. 1, while others stretch into the final week of the month.

What determines your deposit day

States often assign SNAP payment dates using a system tied to your case number, Social Security number, last name, or application date. Because of that, the exact day you get paid can vary even within the same state.

If you are not sure when your deposit should arrive, check your state’s SNAP agency or online benefits portal. That is usually the fastest way to confirm your exact payment date.

What SNAP benefits cover

SNAP funds are loaded onto an EBT card and can be used for approved grocery items like:

  • Fruits and vegetables.

  • Dairy.

  • Meat, poultry, and fish.

  • Bread and cereal.

  • Other basic grocery items.

SNAP cannot generally be used for alcohol, tobacco, hot prepared foods, or non-food household items.

What to do if your payment is late

If your August SNAP deposit does not appear when expected, check your EBT balance first through your state’s customer service line or online portal. If the money still is missing, contact your local SNAP office for help.
